Second day in London
I wanted very much to visit the wax museum and the first stop of the second day in London was the Madame Tussaud Museum.
Tip: To be sure that you will visit your preferred place without waiting to much in lines be sure that it's the first thing you visit in the morning or buy an online ticket to skip the lines.
Tip: buy a Combo Ticket if you want to see the Aquarium and the London Eye
Tip: London Pass doesn't pay for the Madame Tussaud entrance
Before I bought my ticket for Madame Tussaud I've noticed that on the website was on sale a combo ticket that included the Aquarium and the London Eye.
I bought a Combo Ticket which was cheaper than buying separate tickets for the 3 entrances. Also, for the M.Tussauds I had a VIP Entrance, no waiting in the lines :)
It feels so good to be miniVIP.
The Madame Tussaud Museum has three sections:
The figures look spectacular and the details are amazing: the hair, the face and the body proportion, the clothes...You can meet actors, singers, world leaders, the royal family (without Kate until now) and cartoon characters.
My favorite is the wax figure of Barack Obama in his oval Office...He is really tall :)
Visit the dedicate page of Madame Tussaud's to find out more about the schedule and the making of process of the figures.
Starting the Royal day...
The second day was...royal because most of the time was spent in the Buckingham Palace ( 3 hours without outside waiting).
The next stop was the Buckingham Palace..We bought in advanced the ticket to the State Rooms ( I think that was 17 pounds..if I remember well) and for the Queen's Gallery I used the London Pass.
Tip: It's a good advice to buy the tickets in advance because there are loong lines; I was the second person in the line for the paid tickets and next to me were waiting tens of people...The price is the same even if you buy it online...you have nothing to loose...only to gain some time.
The inside of the Buckingham Palace made me say "wow"; there is an amazing interior design and you can see that wealth is everywhere.
You can see Rembrandt paintings, rare collections, and my favorite part: the Faberge Collection...all the items are soo small and so precious :)
Maybe you know the Faberge Egg from the famous movie "Ocean's eleven".
Take a look at the pictures and the videos from the special page by clicking here.
In September 2011 the Palace hosted a new section dedicated to the royal wedding.
In the ball room they exposed Kate's dress, crown, shoes and even a copy of the cake.
As far as I know, each year Buckingham Palace prepares a different section of the tour...
The second part of the visit was dedicated to the Queen's Gallery. Even if I'm not passionate about art and paintings I must admit that the Gallery offered me a new experience.
I never knew what to do see in a painting and I didn't imagine that I'll stay there much time.
At the entrance, you receive an audio guide. When you type the number of the painting you are looking at, it will start a description and it will tell you which is the story of the painting.
I had no idea about who many things can happen in a simple image. I was very captivated and I spend 1 hour just looking at some paintings :) I learned that art is not that boring that it seems.
After the Buckingham Tour finished, it was almost 5 p.m; it was the time for dinner.
For the evening, something childish followed: M&M's Candy Store...!
It's colored, funny and full of life. Even if you have kids or not, you will love it, I'm sure.
There are so many cute things, toys and candies...see pictures at my M&M's section.
tip: try to visit each day different places for different tastes. If someone is not an art lover, you can't visit all day art galleries...find something else.
Also, many attractions have the last entrance at 5 p.m so the evening is free; go to a movie, shopping or... just rest :)
The second day is over? No problem...take a look at the third day in London:
