If you will have the opportunity to visit London in the summer of 2012, you will have the opportunity to participate to a great experience: Olympic Games 2012.
The Organisation that manages the Modern Games and also chose the city it is called the International Olympic Committee, with the headquarter in Switzerland.
The city is selected after considering a few aspects like which city promises to build the best facilities for the competitions. You must now that the city is the one the finances the Games, not the International Olympic Committee.
I think that London is a good choice... if you are around, take a visit.

What do the Olympic rings represent?
The most known symbol of the Olympic Games is, for sure, the sign that contains the 5 rings. If you don't remember it, just look above :)
There are 5 circles to represent the 5 inhabited continents of the world: Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and the Americas. The 5 colours that appear (Blue, yellow, green, black and red) were chose because every nation has at least one of them on the national flag. Test it...think at the flag of your country and visualize the colours. Are they right? For me it worked :) I found all of them !
